Lin Barnes

I graduated from Crisp County High School in Cordele, GA.  My college degrees were earned at Abraham Baldwin College and at the University of Georgia.

I entered the real estate profession as a second career, becoming licensed in 2001.  Earlier, I had worked in the banking profession for over 20 years, with positions in loan origination, branch management, and internal auditing.

Working as a real estate agent has given me the great opportunity to enjoy a long-held passion of mine; that is, homes and the personal connections that come with the searches, sales, and purchases of them.    I strive constantly to excel in both public relations and human resources as they relate to my work.

Professionally, I’m excited about my new responsibilities as President-elect of the Crisp Area Board of Realtors and grateful for both my status as the 2010 Top Producer for Smith, Branch, & Pope, L.L.C.’s Cordele/Lake Blackshear Office and new membership in the Million Dollar Club.   Aware of the vibrancy of technology in the real estate profession, I have recently gained the National Association of Realtor’s Technology certification, designated as E-Pro.  I’ve found that membership in the Georgia Association of Realtors also provides opportunities for continuing education and professional networking.  Reacting to the economically driven volatilities in the housing market, I have actively gained as much recent experience as possible in handling distressed and foreclosure assets.

When not working with or for my clients, I have some community and civic involvements that are very rewarding to me.  I’d like to mention my involvement in the following:   Past President and current Board of Directors member of the Historic O’Neal Neighborhood Association;  Board Member of the Gillespie-Seldin Rural Life Community Center;  Chairman of the Gillespie-Seldin Rural Life Community Center Audit Committee;  Board member of the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing;  Founding Officer of Barnes & Thomas, Inc., an enterprise devoted to the preservation and restoration of historic homes in Cordele’s O’Neal School Neighborhood;  Volunteer for the SAM Shortline Railroad;  frequent volunteer and constant promoter for community service organizations and events in Cordele; and Special Events Volunteer for the Georgia Historic Preservation Trust.

My hobbies are even real estate connected!  I enjoy travelling around our country to historic homes, preservation sites, and historic home districts.

I live in the Lake Blackshear community but strive for a special focus on the in- town properties of Crisp, Dooly, Turner, Wilcox, and Sumter counties.
